Rev. Whitney L. Prose Bruno is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ in the USA and a ministry partner of the United Church of Canada. She has two Masters degrees from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio; one in Theological Studies concentrated in Ethics and the other in Divinity concentrated in Interreligious Relations. She served as the pastor of Saint Michael's United Church of Christ in Baltimore, Ohio from 2012-2021. She, her spouse Rob, and their daughter Selena (plus cats and dog) moved to Manitoulin Island in 2021 to be the pastor of the Little Current United Church / Sheguiandah United Church charge.
Rev. Bruno is passionate about theology, (what do we think about God?) theodicy, (why do bad things happen?), interreligious dialogue, nature, plants, chickens, cats, board games, live action role play, and tea. Like most Millennials, she grew up with the internet. Unlike most Millennials, she also grew up knowing how to use a party line telephone.
Her absolute favourite hymn is "Nothing Is Lost on the Breath of God" by Colin Gibson. She says, "To me, it speaks of God's incredible presence with us in all aspects of life, death, and rebirth. My dream is for all to know how much they are loved, valued, and counted."
Nothing is lost on the breath of God,
nothing is lost forever;
God's breath is love, and that love will remain,
holding the world for ever.
No feather too light, no hair too fine,
no flower too brief in its glory;
no drop in the ocean, no dust in the air,
but is counted and told in God's story.
